Miami Security Guard Working New Year’s Eve Event Killed
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Kola Nut Café was the scene of a deadly shooting early New Year’s Day, where a security guard was killed in Miami.
Security Guard Torre Jermaine Eugene was working for the promoter of a New Year’s Eve event at the nightclub on 183rd Street. Witnesses said there was gunfire, and then pandemonium as the violence spilled out into the parking lot.”Everybody ran,” said witness Craig Larry. “You hear gunshots, you’re going to run. Imagine about 300 people here in the parking lot,” he said. Police believe an argument inside the club prompted the shooting around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. Witnesses said two men fled in a car after the shooting. Security Guard Eugene was shot just inside the door of the club, according to investigators. About three dozen evidence markers could be seen on the ground near the nightclub and in the parking lot where empty bullet shell casings were left. Detectives are still not sure if security Guard Eugene was involved in the altercation or if a stray bullet is to blame for his death. A second person was hurt from the shooting, but police do not know who that person is because they fled. by local10.com
